Atlantic Beach occupies the western end of the Long Beach barrier island, with residential streets between the Atlantic shoreline and Reynolds Channel. The bridge to the mainland is a familiar landmark in its compact coastal setting.

Beach houses and larger year-round residences share the village streets. Ocean-facing and channel-side locations offer different outlooks, while the blocks between them retain a close relationship to the shore. Beach access arrangements vary by location and facility.
